Lie groups and representation theory

An introduction to compact Lie groups and their representations. Among the main results are the Peter–Weyl theorem, which realises every compact Lie group as a group of matrices, and the Conjugation Theorem on maximal tori, leading to the classification of connected compact Lie groups by their root systems.
